Quality & Formulation
-
We proudly make all of our products right here in Texas. Our kibble is crafted at our mill in Muenster, Texas, while our freeze-dried recipes are produced at our dedicated facility in Denton, Texas.
-
Quality isn’t just a box we check—it’s our promise. Every step, from raw ingredients to your pup’s bowl, meets the highest standards.
Our freeze-dried recipes go through a safety process that eliminates harmful bacteria—while locking in nutrients and flavor your dog loves.
-
No, we do not use any animal by-products. All protein sources come from high-quality, whole meats and fish to ensure optimal nutrition and digestibility.
-
Our recipes are carefully formulated to meet the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) nutrient profiles for the intended life stage. This ensures our diets are complete and balanced based on established nutritional standards. Our team includes experienced nutritionists and works in consultation with veterinarians to support overall pet health.
-
We do not specifically follow WSAVA “standards” as WSAVA does not create or enforce regulatory requirements. We follow AAFCO standards, which are U.S.-based nutritional guidelines that manufacturers are required to meet. WSAVA is an international veterinary organization that provides guidance and answers questions customers may have when evaluating pet food.
-
Our kibble mill is ruminant protein free, meaning we never use ingredients from animals like cows, sheep, or goats. Because we also produce horse feed in this facility, this standard helps maintain a safer, more controlled environment for every recipe we make.
Ingredients
-
We’ve been partnering with local farms since 1932, sourcing as many ingredients as possible close to home. Being near Dallas also lets us work with local suppliers for much of our packaging, keeping quality high and connections strong.
-
Yes, our facility does process ingredients that contain wheat, barley, and similar grains. We perform a clean-out process between different feeds to flush all ingredients from the system. However, Muenster is not a gluten-free facility, and we do not test for gluten transfer between batches.
-
No, our foods are completely free of corn, soy, and wheat. We carefully formulate our recipes to avoid these common allergens while still providing a balanced and nutritious diet.
-
In our Ocean Fish recipe, we use a blend of Atlantic herring, cod, menhaden fish, and salmon. The fish used in our fish meal, as well as our fresh fish ingredients, are a combination of wild-caught and farm-raised sources.
-
No, none of our fish or fish meal is preserved with ethoxyquin. Instead, we use a rosemary extract blend as a natural, plant-based preservative to maintain freshness and stability, effectively protecting against oxidation without synthetic chemicals.
-
Cod liver oil is an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart, joint, and brain health. It is naturally rich in Vitamins A and D, which are essential for immune function, vision, and strong bones. Including cod liver oil ensures these nutrients are provided in a natural, bioavailable form.
-
Coconut meal is a high-quality carbohydrate source that also contains some natural coconut oil. This provides additional Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, reduces the amount of starch needed in the recipe, and supports healthy digestion. It also contributes to a shiny, healthy coat and promotes overall skin health.
-
The sodium content in all our dog foods is approximately 0.4% on a Dry Matter (DM) basis. This is slightly above the AAFCO minimum of 0.3%, supporting normal nerve and muscle function while maintaining overall electrolyte balance.
-
Our recipes contain a minimum of 0.2% taurine by weight to support heart health and overall well-being.
General Questions
-
Transition gradually over 7 days to help avoid tummy upset. Switching between recipes in the same product line? No transition needed. Recipes within a line share the same base formula, with only the protein changing.
