Service Has a Special Place in Our History
Muenster's roots go back to 1932, when Joe Felderhoff founded the business in Muenster, Texas. After Joe's unexpected passing, his wife, Mary, worked to keep the business alive for their four young children, leasing its operations to another local family until her oldest son, Arthur, was old enough to take over.
But before Arthur returned to the family business, he chose to serve his country.
At 18, Arthur volunteered to join the U.S. Navy during World War II. At 6'6", he was initially told that his height would make serving aboard a ship difficult. Arthur persisted until the Navy found another way for him to serve, assigning him to the Navy Seabees, where he supported reconstruction efforts in Europe.
After returning home to Muenster, Arthur took over the business at just 23 years old. The persistence and work ethic he brought home with him helped transform a small local feed operation, expand its product offerings, and lay the groundwork for the company Muenster would become.
That history makes recognizing those who serve their communities especially meaningful to us.
